An exhibition of contemporary art by Tibetan artists living in exile, in combination with artwork of European artists made in or inspired by Tibet.
The exhibition will be held from 3 June till 6 July 2009 and is in celebration of the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Amsterdam, from 3 trough 6 June 2009.
For H.H. the Dalai Lama this exhibition is a unique possibility to see Tibetan Art from all over the world ‘under one roof’, on his way to/from his hotel. Prominent Tibetan contemporary artists will participate to Tibet Art Now - Gonkar Gyatso (UK), Losang Gyatso (USA), Karma Phuntsok (Australia), Tashi Norbu (Netherlands), Namgyal Dorjee (USA), Tharphen Lingtsang (Netherlands), Puntsok Tsering (Germany) – together with artists inspired by Tibet: Elke Hessel (Germany), Paul Hilkens and Rosemarijn Dissen (Netherlands).
Tibet Art Now is a valuable addition to the program prepared for the visit of H.H. the Dalai Lama, organized by Stichting Bezoek de Dalai Lama. With this event Tibet Art Movement wants to show H.H. the Dalai Lama how the Tibetan artists of the new generations express themselves, worldwide.
H.H. the Dalai Lama considers artist as important messengers. 'To achieve a certain inner progress, the product of artists can be of great help and big influence. Artists have an effective tool to bring over a message. The task of artists in our society is of a huge importance, especially to gain less aggressive and more peaceful people. Art is a great help for people who are focused on the outside, because art forces you to turn inside.'

Opening hours
You are very welcome to the opening of Tibet Art Now on 3 June 2009, at 6PM. On 6 July 2009 the exhibition will close with a happy gathering to celebrate the 74th birthday of H.H. the Dalai Lama. Tibet Art Now will be open seven days a week, from 10 AM till 6 PM in Temple, Prins Hendrikkade 20-21 in Amsterdam; opposite Central Station.

Op de drempel van een Nieuwe Toekomst
Tibet Art Movement presenteert van 3 juni t/m 6 juli 2009 de bijzondere
expositie Tibet Art Now; een tentoonstelling van hedendaagse kunst
door Tibetaanse kunstenaars die in ballingschap over de hele wereld wonen,
in combinatie met werk van kunstenaars uit Europa dat gemaakt is in Tibet of
geïnspireerd is op Tibet. Grote namen van de hedendaagse Tibetaanse Kunst
zijn op deze expositie vertegenwoordigd: Gonkar Gyatso (Engeland), Karma
Phuntsok (Australie), Tashi Norbu (Nederland), Namgyal Dorjee (Verenigde
Staten), Tharphen Lingtsang (Nederland), Puntsok Tsering (Duitsland); samen
met kunstenaars geïnspireerd door Tibet als Elke Hessel (Duitsland), Paul
Hilkens en Rosemarijn Dissen (Nederland).
De expositie is tot stand gebracht ter ere van het verblijf van Zijne
Heiligheid de Dalai Lama van 3 t/m 6 juni 2009 in Amsterdam. Met dit unieke
evenement wil Tibet Art Movement Z.H. de Dalai Lama tonen hoe de nieuwe
generatie kunstenaars zich wereldwijd uitdrukt.
Z.H. de Dalai Lama beschouwt kunstenaars als belangrijke boodschappers.
'Om een bepaalde innerlijke vooruitgang te ontwikkelen is het product van
kunstenaars behulpzaam en van grote invloed. Kunstenaars hebben met hun
kunst een effectieve manier om een boodschap door te geven. De taak van
kunstenaars is van cruciaal belang in de maatschappij, vooral om te streven
naar minder agressieve en meer vreedzame, meer zachtaardige mensen. Kunst is
met name behulpzaam voor mensen die altijd naar buiten gericht zijn, want
kunst maakt dat zij zich naar binnen moeten richten."
Voor Z.H. de Dalai Lama is deze tentoonstelling een unieke gelegenheid om
Tibetaanse kunst van over de wereld onder één dak te bewonderen, op de route
van/naar zijn hotel.
Openingstijden
U bent van harte welkom op de opening van Tibet Art Now op 3 juni 2009 om
18.00 uur. Op 6 juli 2009 sluit de expositie met een feestelijke bijeenkomst
ter gelegenheid van de 74ste verjaardag van Z.H. de Dalai Lama. De expositie
is zeven dagen per week geopend van 10.00 tot 18.00 uur in Tempel aan de
Prins Hendrikkade 20-21 in Amsterdam; tegenover het Centraal Station.
